Ready to Make an impact?

As the Director, Pensions, you will be responsible for managing a multi-billion-dollar pension portfolio including: optimizing plan administration, leveraging vendor partnerships, increasing member understanding and engagement, and oversight of pension management best practices and good governance.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Managing all aspects of the pension administration, across all of Sobeys’s regions nationally including actively seeking areas for improvement and modernization of pension management;
  • Collaborating effectively with pension partners and vendors to provide well researched recommendations to optimize performance;
  • Possessing a deep understanding of the pension landscape and stakeholders, with proven experience working with key vendors;
  • Being well versed in governance and grounded in legal and tax implications of pensions and planning across various provincial legislature;
  • Consistently researching and assessing areas for growth across the portfolio and actively advocating for program enhancement;
  • Contributing to the development of new tools and methodologies to assess pension performance and experience in transforming legacy plans to more modern, evolved ones;
  • Acting as the Subject Matter Expert providing strategic recommendations and governance over this complex enterprise portfolio;
  • Embodying the Sobeys entrepreneurial mindset, commercially focused, with the tenacity to ensure recommendations are effectively implemented;
  •  Managing a team, supporting, coaching, and developing talent.

What you have to offer:

  • You have 10-15 years of relevant pension experience implementing and managing enterprise plans across large-scale organizations;
  • You actively sit on large-scale pension boards;
  • You have proven experience managing a team of direct reports;
  • University degree in Actuarial Science and/or Pension Plan Administration Certificate, preferred;
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
