What is the opportunity?

Reporting to the Manager Global Sanctions/Fraud Scanning, you are responsible for the fulfillment of all day-to-day activities relating to timely and accurate processing of all high-risk wire/payments/messages stopping in the RBC Sanction Scanning engine.  The incumbent will have global accountability relative to specific sanctions payments processing conducted on behalf of RBC via the following channels: SWIFT, RBC Express Wire Payments, SP&S (SWIFT Payments and Statements), EDI NETPAY, GRADS, Commercial Direct Payment Portal, IFT (International File Transaction), SAA, FEDLINE and Foreign Exchange Payments. Additionally, responsibilities include accountability for escalating all extreme high-risk processes associated with Sanctions processing to GES, AMLC and NFDG. Responsible to proactively monitor and resolve all false positive matches within the sanction scanning engine.

What will you do?

  • Act as a first line reviewer for all potential sanction related messages
  • Ensure all false positive matched transactions & payments are processed in accordance with the AML Compliance, Economic Sanctions policy, AML Regulatory requirements, CPA, LVTS, SWIFT, ACH & Banking Arrangement guidelines to avoid reputational risk, eliminate/minimize interest claims and potential losses to RBC & escalate all “positive matches” transactions to the Economic Sanctions Payments team / National Fraud Detection Group as required.
  • Mitigate operational/transactional risk through proactive measures e.g., being aware of various cut-off times, accurate processing, and verification of payments.
  • Responsible for providing a high level of service and support to a global client base by consistently meeting measurable service level agreements.
  • Adhere to AML Economic Sanctions & AML Payments Compliance internal and mandatory, SOX, ICR, Internal Audit requirements.

Must have:

  • Strong risk mindset
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven / day and evening shift environment demonstrating flexibility to work occasional overtime and public holidays.
  • Ability to multitask in various systems environments.
  • Financial services experience
  • Excellent written and digital communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of AML Economic Sanctions and Payments
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational & decision-making skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge including BESS, SWIFT, RBC Express (Wires & SP&S), IntelliTrace Systems as well as manual processes.
