Overview

 

Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Local Development Specialist to join our  team located in our  office in the west.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage local item portfolio to ensure it supports category and departmental strategies, while remaining relevant to regional consumer needs and trends.
  • Local item portfolio management whereby sales, profit and shrink are managed weekly to ensure positive P&L contribution and YOY growth
  • Serves as a key internal resource for local Suppliers pertaining to retailer supplier set up processes which includes regulatory standards, food safety, listing processes, costing, & data maintenance
  • Take a leading position in planning and performing at annual Local events which include Supplier Road Shows, trade shows, virtual events, In Take events and special ‘local’ events in store and backstage
  •  Develop relationships with Provincial associations and agencies, as well as educational institutions & programs that support food retail space
  •  Work with Category management teams to ensure that Local items are an input to the National plan to ensure complete integration
  • Work with Operations on the strategic execution of local items across the store. Curate local item listings that may be required, while supporting in-store activations and experiences of
  •  Work with marketing to ensure how we communicate is in line with strategy. Signage, social, flyers, digital and key occasions are a few examples on how we partner
  • Work with Category management teams to ensure that Local items are an input to the National plan to ensure complete integration

Skills and Experience Requirements

 

  • 5+ years retail business experience
  •  Knowledge of Retail Operations and Merchandising processes, Safety and Food Safety standards
  • Excellent knowledge of the regional retail marketplace and familiarity of major markets

The salary range for this position in British Columbia is $73,334 – $101,000. We will consider factors such as your working location, work experience and skills as well as internal equity, and market conditions to ensure that you are paid fairly and competitively.
